Who is Dr Dan?
Dr Daniel Rizzo was born in San Diego, California. He is a local McKinney resident who lives on a five-acre homestead with his wife, Morgan and their eight children. Dr. Dan enjoys spending time with his family, enjoys tending to their farm, and likes to both watch and play baseball with his children.
2
Where did Dr Dan receive his training?
Dr Rizzo attended his undergraduate training at the University of San Diego. He went on to attend medical school at Midwestern University in Phoenix, Arizona. After that, he completed a general surgery residency at a level one trauma hospital in Toledo, Ohio. Dr. Rizzo served in the US Navy reserves for three years and active duty for four years. He was stationed at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Virginia, where he assisted with a general surgery residency program. He is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS). Dr Rizzo is a board certified general surgeon and has been practicing as such for ten years.
3
Why Primary Care?
Dr Rizzo trained as a doctor of osteopathy (D.O.), rather than taking the traditional M.D. route to becoming a surgeon. During his undergraduate training and throughout medical school, he trained under a holistic-minded functional medicine doctor, who left a lasting impression upon his medical journey. Dr Rizzo spent ten years in the operating room, trying to help patients with late-stage illnesses that required medical intervention. This year, Dr Rizzo and his wife began to prayerfully consider a return to the roots of his training – through a natural-minded, holistic approach to patient care.

What to Expect?
It is Dr Rizzo’s desire to help patients heal their bodies in the most natural way possible. At your first appointment, Dr Rizzo will take time to sit down and get a thorough, comprehensive picture of your medical history and lifestyle. That, combined with diagnostic testing, hormone testing, genetic screening and imaging when possible will help Dr. Rizzo to determine the most effective method to help bring you to optimal health.
